One top-up for a year of family trips
Credit in the pool does not expire, so some families add it once in January and stop thinking about it. How to size that payment, and what happens to whatever is left.
Most families travel two to four times a year: a summer holiday, a half-term break, a weekend away. Paying for each trip's data separately means remembering to do it before every one. Adding credit to the family pool once covers all of them, and each SIM comes out of it when you get it.
Sizing the payment
Start with the trips you already know about. For each one, count the people who need data and the days you are away, then look up the destination on the Pricing page, where the calculator shows the cheapest plan per person.
Add a margin for the trip nobody has planned yet. A weekend city break for four is usually a small amount next to a summer fortnight, so a margin of one extra short trip is plenty.
Limits keep a big pool safe
A large pool does not mean anyone can spend it. Each family member has their own spending limit, and a SIM that would take them over it is refused before anything is drawn. Set the limits when you add the credit, not when the first teenager asks for a bigger plan.
What happens to what is left
Credit stays in the pool until you use it, so what is left at the end of the year simply carries on. If you would rather have it back, ask us and we refund unused credit to the card you paid with.
You can pay in euros or US dollars, whichever you choose at the top of the page; the button shows the exact amount before you pay, and one payment can be anything up to 20,000.
